Recently, Uwe, a member of our broader community who has been coming to MAPLE events from its earliest days, visited to have a real discussion with us.
He came after listening to several recordings about MAPLE online, including the 4-hour conversation we had with a writer from the New Yorker. He came with curiosities, his own insights, his life experience, and real doubts.
As he put it at the start of the discussion, the more Uwe investigates, the more he realizes he can only live the question. MAPLE also is an attempt to embody a Living Question. Specifically, “How do I give my body, mind, and life completely to Great Love for the benefit of all beings?” As soon as we get stuck on an opinion, an idea, an assumption, or a way of looking at things, we are no longer asking the Living Question. We are defending our position and even forcing others to take a stand. This creates worldly conflict. What’s another way?
We are grateful for this opportunity to share with Uwe our own way of embodying the Living Question as a living community. Thanks to Uwe’s courage and willingness to have a face-to-face conversation with us, we were able to create this beautiful conversation about intensive training experiences, how we hold commitment, and how we care for our broader community near and far, from past, present, and future.
